Following the success of Socotra: The Island of Djinns, which transports us to this marvelous island lost in the Indian Ocean, almost four hundred kilometers off the coast of Arabia, a place that has preserved its pristine flora and fauna and to which Indians, Greeks, and southern Arabs traveled for centuries, drawn by the valuable properties of the fragrant resins of frankincense and myrrh trees, the author takes us back to this world on the verge of disappearing, this time through a captivating visual journey of fifty-five images that establish Jordi Esteva as one of the most compelling photographers of his generation.

The book includes both a collection of photographs taken during six trips between 2005 and 2015 with a Nikon FM 2 on Tri-X film and developed with D-76*, and a multilingual DVD of Socotra, the Island of Geniuses, a film whose editing was completed in 2016.

Both the photo book and the film are based on the book Socotra: The Island of Djinns, published in 2011 by Atalanta Ediciones, which won the 2012 Caminos del Cid Prize.
